Now, after 4 months, I am now able to say that I have already taken root thanks to the course COMM 101 ---Business Fundamentals, which gave me overview and instructions about the business. That is how I drew this reflective mind map. The well-developed root system is what I learned from this course. And it enables me to grow better in the future, providing me with the life essentials such as water and nutrition. Here I will write about 10 important takeaways from this course.

10 Takeaways for My Sauder Life

1. Business Ethics
The very first blog I wrote was about the business ethics. At that time, I knew almost nothing about business leave alone writing blogs. Business ethics was my first step towards my ultimate business career. Besides, I consider it as a critical part of whatever business. Therefore, in my humble opinion, it should be fundamental for the whole

That is my group 131. There are 5 people in total, which made us the largest group in our presenting session. It is a group of diversity. Each of us comes from different countries. I am from China, Sakiko is from Japan, Kyle is from Vancouver, Adrien comes from England, and Nureill is from Philippines. We are so diverse but so harmonious. We cooperated well, we made funny jokes, we were so efficient. Everything went so smoothly during these 4 months we spent together. Honestly, I think that I cannot ask for a better team. During these days, I learned from them a lot, maybe even as much as I learned from the lecture. What my teammates taught me was far more than just how to get a better grade for the assignments. In fact, they taught me about the power of variety. We always came up with distinct ideas but ultimately never failed to reach agreement. I sincerely hope the friendship between us never fade away even after we finish COMM

The group project with my fellow group members Avery Ezell, DaShawn Gilliam and Ayaka Matsunaga was a success. Our topic focused on mentoring where we decided to partner with the Wicomico Mentoring Project in Salisbury, Maryland. The project provides “adult role models who volunteer to work with students to improve their grades, attendance and behaviors” (Wicomico County Public Schools). The coordinator Mark Thompson was more than glad to become our mentor to help our group make an impact on his organization. In addition, Professor Melany Trenary was a part of the project where she became another mentor.…

My group members for the Civic Proposal Presentation were Alexandra Alaniz and Gabriela A. Martinez. I chose to work with them because I had worked with both girls in previous group class assignments. I think we worked very well together since we all expressed our opinions and were open for any change if someone had a different view towards any slide of the presentation. One issue we experienced was time, we all had different schedules that intervened with the times we could meet. In this Civic Proposal Presentation, I learned about group work experience, my own performance, and the feedback from my audience.…

My group, Challenger, was the intro/conclusion group for super-group B where we discussed the issue of sexual assault. Overall, I am fairly pleased with the way my group performed in the deliberation, but obviously there is room for improvement amongst all the members of my group. 1. The intro was pretty basic and vanilla, but the statistics were well researched and the amount of “ums” and “likes” were significantly increased. Visuals were minimal and non-disruptive.…

During and after the group project I got a better understanding of NAVAL and a better understanding of my group. For example, I learned to be a consumer of research in 590 and 611. This practice of critical evaluation will be essential as I move forward in my career and education, but it also can apply to everyday consumption of controversial reporting, evaluation of political debates, or assessment of a new proposal at work. I learned both hard skills, like the ability to use instructional technology, and soft skills, like communication with stakeholders and subject matter experts. I take away from this program an understanding of methods for designing instruction, from secondary curriculum to user experience to performance improvement, the necessary skills to help contribute on a team, and lifelong critical thinking…

Individual Reflection Paper As humans, it is within our inborn nature to interact and cooperate with others. This is due to the fact that no one individual is perfect and capable in all ways. We are able to complement each other’s inadequacy through working as a group, hence this is why collective efforts often made things easier as compared to individual effort. While working in groups, we will experience changes in group dynamics and processes.…

The concepts delivered throughout the management problem-solving course have provided me with valuable simulated real-life experiences which can be applied in my everyday work life as a HR Administrator with aspirations of progressing my career. The course delivery was such that as a student, I was able to use my existing knowledge and skills, in addition to that of my peers, to analyse and explore complex organisational problems. This course has challenged the way I think and deepened my understanding of the problem-solving process, which has enabled me to perceive issues from new perspectives, I once would not have considered. Additionally, it has also allowed me to make explicit and authentic connections between the course content and my…

Reflection Paper II Throughout my college experience here in the Carroll School of Management, group work and the ability to work well with others has been emphasized greatly. This makes sense, because in a professional environment, the ability to communicate, listen and contribute within a group leads to success and the achievement of goals. However, none have gone on as long as this project, making it a more realistic example of working on a team. Junior year of college is definitely a crazy time, as we are forced to balance heavy workloads with extracurriculars and recruiting.…

I have been taking this class for nearly three months. Our group works well on building and keeping positive attitude to our assignments and supportive climate. Each group member devotes to create an atmosphere that our group is the best group. For instance, our group member Erik and Jo always said some words of praise and encouragement, such as “we are really a good group”.…

Introduction The time I spent with my student during our tutoring sessions gave me a first-hand experience of how it is like on a student to teacher level. I learned a lot from my student, Kade, as I hope he also learned from me. During this time, I was able to observe his strengths and his weakness. I had to be flexible to cater my lesson plan to my student, so he could build upon what he learned and advance through more challenging activities.…
