Anaerobic Cellular Respiration Lab Report

Improved Essays
The semester is coming to an end, and now is the chance for me to think back about every single task I have completed. Whether if I performed exceptionally or well below my standards, it is important to realize that there is always room for improvement in the future. Overall, what matters most is the amount of effort I put into all my work from every course, despite how challenging they appeared at first glance. Optimistically, as I analyze all my successes and failures from this semester, I will be able to further enhance my study skills, in hopes of acquiring additional ones that will assist me in performing even better for the next school year.
After momentarily looking through my achievements from this semester, there was no doubt that my best work was the anaerobic cellular respiration lab report from biology class, which I scored a 92% on. To begin with, one strategy that can be credited for allowing me to perform well on that assignment was my method of research. In detail, I made sure only to browse through reliable websites since they often contain formal articles with up to date information, which were made by authors who have a sufficient amount of experience with the topic being addressed. Later on, I was able to make enough connections between what was taught in class and the variety of facts I

One thing I could have done differently was by asking the teacher for help when I did not understand what is being taught. To elaborate, the teacher would have clarified an abstract concept by summarizing it in a way that would be easier to keep in my head. Also, there could have been the possibility of the teacher providing me with some extra practice questions/one-on-one assistance that could have helped me to perform better on that quiz. Most importantly, the teacher could have told me which concepts I should prioritize when it comes to studying

Interactive Question 7.2 Cite some experimental evidence that indicates that membrane proteins drift. A good form of experimental evidence is Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching, aka FRAP. In the FRAP process, membrane proteins are labelled with a green fluorescent protein, and part of the plasma membrane is “bleached” with a laser, causing them to lose their fluorescence. The part that was bleached will eventually become fluorescent again, as molecules drift in by diffusion.…

The materials and apparatus used in this experiment were: a PC computer, IWX/214, LabScribe Software, SP-304 Spirometer, FH-300 Spirometer flow hear and plastic tubes. The regular set up of the apparatus and more details of the procedure can be found from the Lab Manual on laboratory # 10 respiration, which was used as a reference. After setting the computer software (LabScribe), and calibrating voltage to 22 L which was written in the spirometer black box, a test of the Spirometer was performed to make sure it was in the right position. (A spirometer is an apparatus for measuring the volume of air inspired and expired by the lungs.) It was tested by recording one person breath on the software and observed the waves in the lung volume screen.…

The purpose of the cellular metabolism lab is to determine the effects of inhibitors and other variables on the rate of metabolism in the Krebs Cycle. Inhibitors compete with the substrate to bind to the enzyme, thus slowing down the production of FADH2. When the production of FADH2 is slowed down, the reaction will proceed too slowly for metabolic purposes. In this lab, the enzyme that was catalyzing the reaction was the bean extract. To mimic the FAD that is used in the Krebs cycle, we used 2,6-dichlorophenolindophenol (DPIP).…

In the past term, I completed multiple labs including determining transpiration in bean plant leave and testing bacterial resistance to antibiotics through bacterial transcription. As a kinesthetic learner, I was delighted to be able to work with the material. Moreover, this style of interacting learning proved to be overwhelmingly beneficial as it both increased my passion for biology to unprecedented levels and introduced me to the skills of proper laboratory technique that I can use for the rest of my life. I have always enjoyed biology, but in this new learning environment, I was able to thrive. My favorite part of biology is how everything ties together.…

Normally the body uses glucose to make ATP through cellular respiration, a series of metabolic reactions. When the body has enough oxygen the pyruvic acid is moved to the mitochondria to break down. Where it is then put through the Krebs cycle and the electron transport chain. During the experiment we were not giving our muscles enough time in between trials to gather enough oxygen for cellular respiration or aerobic respiration. Instead the muscles use anaerobic respiration when enough lactic acid builds up from all the muscle movement.…

Determining The Process of Photosynthesis And Cellular Respiration Using Elodea and Yeast Introduction Photosynthesis is an essential process to life on earth, in which plants and other organisms use sunlight to create food from oxygen, and carbon dioxide. Cellular respiration is when energy in food is released and converted to ATP, which is then used as chemical energy to complete tasks within a cell. This process usually requires oxygen and releases carbon dioxide. Photosynthesis and cellular respiration are similar in some areas and different in others. The purpose of both of the process is to produce energy, but they have different ways of achieving this goal.…

Hypothesis: Aerobic Respiration: If a phosphate buffer, dichlorophenol-indophenol and succinate are added to a mitochondrial extract then the succinate molecules will bind to an enzyme complex (succinate dehydrogenase). Because the enzyme and FAD are a part of the same complex, initiating succinate oxidation, this reaction reduces FAD to FADH2. Thus the oxidation of succinate to furmarate. Anaerobic Respiration: If a solution of yeast and glucose is combined and placed in different incubation temperatures, then the amount of gas that is released from the test tube will increase with temperature.…
