Steroids For Substance Abuse

According to Taylor Hooton Foundation, four bodybuilders in Pakistan have died in the last 17 days due to consumption of illegal steroids. The same medication that can treat a person for a certain condition could cause their death if used wrongly. Steroids are very dangerous drugs that if abused can cause serious health problems in the user. Steroids are prescribed for people suffering from asthma, loss of muscle mass and many other conditions, however, athletes and many others abuse it for personal benefit. People who abuse these drugs only see the benefits that they will receive, ignoring their side effects which can cause death. Because anabolic steroids are dangerous and their misuse causes health problems, abusers should stop taking them.
According to the Center for Substance Abuse Research at the University of Maryland, “In the 1930 's, a team of scientists was able to create a synthetic form of testosterone (a male hormone) to help treat men who were unable to produce enough of the hormone for normal growth, development, and sexual functioning.” During World War I, it was found that this artificial form of testosterone could be used to help malnourished soldiers gain weight and improve performance.
