Nandrolone is an anabolic steroid which is used to increase the growth of certain tissues. Athletes would use this enhancing drug to improve their blood’s oxygen-carrying ability. This process would be done by increasing hemoglobin and the size of red blood cells. With this advantage, the athlete would be able to train longer and harder since they would have more amounts of oxygenated blood in their muscles. Athletes who have been injured would also take nandrolone in order to recover quicker. This steroid can also increase muscle size, strength and power. In addition, there are potential harmful side effects that come along with this steroid. Nadrolone may cause bloody cysts in the liver and spleen and liver tumors which may cause extreme internal bleeding in the abdomen. Nandrolone can also decrease HDL, which is good cholesterol, and increase LDL which is the bad. Since the ratio for LDL will be higher than HDL, this will increase the risk of arteriosclerosis and other heart diseases. Wild mood swings may also occur which is commonly known as “steroid rage”.
