I made a very unique stained-glass window for marriage. For this stained-glass window I decided to use a Venn diagram to help represent marriage. A Venn diagram is a diagram using circles or other shapes, to show the relationship between sets, such as male and female. Where the circles overlap is the space where the sets, the male and female, share the same thing.
To show the difference between the man and the woman that are being married; there is a male symbol on the right and a female symbol on the left and in the centre, where the symbols overlap, there is a love heart to show the love that the married couple share. The stained-glass window also has a traditional aspect as well; the male and female symbols also represent the traditional

    W. D. Snodgrass’s “Leaving the Motel” focuses profoundly on language, tone, and symbolism, along with other strategies to express the idea of love as fleeting, yet businesslike. The poem tells a story of the happenings between two people at a motel after a surreptitious sexual meeting. These two people are participating in a secret affair and Snodgrass’s technicality expresses the formality and routine that their connection demands. Although the encounters are businesslike, situations in the poem suggest the two share tenderness and intimacy. However, this is suppressed by the well-organized discerning thoughts and activities of the two lovers as they prepare to leave the motel.…

She’s holding hands with a girl below her, who’s gazing up at her with sympathetic eyes, perhaps her sister. The emotional focal point in this piece is not the bride, but the look exchanged between herself and this girl. Everything else in the painting is an accessory to their gaze. Behind them are ladies looking toward the bride or turned to one another, some may be helping her prepare for her wedding or assessing her trousseau. The scent of perfume seems to hover in the air; the sound of courtly gossip is implied in their sidelong glances.…

Symbolism Within “The Veldt” Within literature, symbolism is used by assigning symbolic meanings to objects, settings, or actions to represent an idea or characteristic. In the short story “The Veldt,” Ray Bradbury uses various symbols within the text that allow the readers to identify what the author is trying to tell them. The symbols allow the readers to define the character of Wendy and Peter and the relationship they have with their parents and the house, a broader understanding of the setting and to understand the story’s theme. Wendy and Peter are the children of George and Lydia. The relationship they have isn’t as affectionate as it should be, since George installed machinery that would take care of them all, the children grew up learning that they would have everything handed to them and wouldn’t…

Throughout the novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns, written by Khaled Hosseini, I was able to find many symbols that reappeared as I read this text. However, I believe the two important symbols that I came across that are potent to the development of the main theme, the dominance\ of men and the life of women, is when Mariam signs a contract for her marriage and execution. Another symbol that emphasizes the theme of this novel is Mariam’s and Laila’s burqa. To begin, I believe the burqa Mariam and Laila receive when they marry Rasheed establishes the theme about relationship expectations. For example, Rasheed tells Mariam that “a woman’s face is her husband’s business only” (Hosseini 79).…
