An S. E. Ore That Affected My Values

An S.E.E. that affected my values is the bombing and gunfire attack that occurred in Jakarta, Indonesia. This event certainly hit me hard because it happened in my hometown, within the area where most of my family and friends lives. It specifically happened nearby a shopping center; one that I would often go to with my family and friends. At least 7 people died and many others were seriously injured. When I heard the news, I was completely shocked and saddened but grateful at the same time. My family was lucky enough to be safe from the bombing attack as the police were quick to take the attackers down. As a result of this event, I learned to value the relationships that I have with my loved ones. I realized that life is short and I have to …show more content…
When my grandma passed away, I was 16 years old and the incident affected me immensely. I lost someone who was very close and dear to me. My grandma had been ill for months due to cancer. I watched her struggle everyday to get out of bed, as her body was very weak. When I was informed about her passing, I became speechless and numb. I did not understand why things happened the way it did. Her passing left so many people mourning, especially my family and I. Following my grandma’s death, my grandpa also fell ill. He was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away within months. Losing two of the closest people to me was one of the hardest things that I had to encounter in my life. The worst part was learning that both of them could live a longer life if they had taken better care of their health. After this event, I learned to value my health and well-being. I promised myself to start living a healthier lifestyle. I started eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep at night, and making exercise a part of my daily routine. It took a while before I got used to my new routine but I have never felt better about myself. I realized that my decision to live healthy would not only benefit me in the short run, but also in the long run.
