There is an old Hebrew Proverb that states, "Do not confine your children to your own learning, for they were born in another time". There is more truth to this that one would like to admit. We live in a time where we rush from place to place never taking the time to think about the happenings around us. It 's the so called rat race, as we often hear it dubbed. The endless, self-defeating, or pointless pursuit of what? We are so wrapped up in our day to day activities that we do not stop to observe the world that our children are growing up in. To integrate critical and creative thought into our daily lives, we should get in touch with our emotions, make use of wasted time and learn to define the ways we see things.

Some see the glass half full while others see the glass turned over spilling its contents. By retraining our brain to turn the negatives into positives or the lemons into lemonaides we can overcome almost any obstacle. By analyzing our mistakes we can come up with creative ways to prevent them from reoccuring. Its often easy for us to give our opinion on how we would handle a sitiuation if it were us. However, its not often that easy when you are the one on the inside looking out verses vice versa. One way to help us look at things differently would be to use that mindset when critically thinking. Asking our selves a few questions such as what would I tell a friend to do if it were them in the situation and not me, what are the pros and cons of the situation, and how can I use time I normally would be wasting to help overcome this problem. Alot of the time its not the situation that needs changing but us that needs to make the change.
