Urbanization was the cause of the excessive food because of the amount of new technology that was made from urbanization. The abundance of food also occurred because of an increase in competition between farmers. There were too many farmers trying to sell their crops causing an increased supply with the same demand as before. This helped contribute to the excessive amount of food. This caused there to be less of a need for farmers, and also decreased the number of jobs. As more people were no longer living in rural areas, they had less power in elections. Also, nationally, people began to care more about urban problems than rural problems. This meant that people who lived in the city and had manufacturing jobs had much more influence over politics compared to rural areas and farmers. (Fletcher 1). This is because due to the growth of manufacturing, it had become more import to the economy compared to farmers. Farming was no longer a job that people wanted to become and more young people looked to moving towards urbanization. This led to a huge shift in the political area as there was a lot less people in the agriculture industry. Farmers were negatively impacted by this because they had less power in the government. Overall, this change due to urbanization caused farming to become an unwanted job and vastly decreased their influence
