However, that did not change Hamlet one bit as he kept up the whole crazy act as he teased Polonius, calling him as a big baby and “Jephthah, judge of Israel", a Biblical figure who sacrifice his own daughter. However, that didn’t seem to have lasted that long as the players made their entry, and with that, changed Hamlet’s behavior to actual excitement. In fact, he had actually requested for a quick taste of their quality. More specifically, he asked them to reenact a passionate speech from one of their past performances that Hamlet had attended to. This speech that Hamlet told about was from a performance of Pyrrhus, son of the warrior Achilles, comes to Troy in the Trojan horse to avenge the death of his father by killing Priam, King of Troy. The speech details Pyrrhus 's dark, scary, blood-covered rage. Then we get to Hecuba, Priam 's wife, who 's pretty upset by the whole thing. Hamlet starts reciting the speech himself, and then lets an actor take over. The actor gets so worked up by the description of Hecuba 's emotion at her husband 's death that he has tears in his eyes. However, Polonius did not seem so satisfied with the speech, so he really did not care about it, which also met him missed key clues of what Hamlet is revealing. Not only that, but also the fact that he basically asks the actor to have weep for a fictional character, while he himself does nothing about his own father 's very real death. Hamlet calls himself a coward and “lady-escort” for not having acted on the ghost 's revelation. But why didn’t take action? Well because he is afraid that the ghost of King Hamlet was actually lying to Hamlet, that maybe it might have been a devil taking its shape to control Hamlet, and kill an innocent man. To prevent such hasty actions, Hamlet decided to have the actors play on the stage a scene that is similar to how his father would have died, based on the ghost, in front of Claudius in order to see his reactions. And if Claudius does indeed flip out, then Hamlet would have his answer, thus making his revenge
