I interviewed Rick Hamman. Rick was born on December 23, 1953, and he enlisted in the air force during the Vietnam War. Rick never went into combat because he was colorblind, and that limited his abilities. Despite this, he still feels that enlisting was the best decision he ever made. When I asked him questions about his time serving, he answered with pride and honor. I was inspired by the fact that he felt so strongly about his decision to enlist, even though he never went overseas. Rick wasn’t your typical veteran. This is something else that inspired me. His story was boring, and yet, it was full of laughter, joy, and fond memories of the best time of his life. Rick Hamman may never have gone into combat, but he is glad to have represented
