An Interview With A Homeless Person Essay

Alisa was the most loyal and selfless person I knew. Most friendships diminish when people stop going to the same school because they stop hanging out. However, she was able to keep friendships that she made since she was in grade school. Even though she did not hang out with her friends every weekend, her friendships continued to grow. In addition, she was always helping others. She joined a website that allowed her to help people dealing with depression. I only knew about this because I talked to one of her friends that she was helping. Therefore, she did not help people to add to her list of activities for college resumes, or to impress others. Instead, she wanted to help as many people as she could. Alisa was willing to dedicate her time …show more content…
Anyone who got to personally know Alisa is very lucky. Although she was usually not the person to go up to someone and initiate a conversation, everyone would instantly be drawn in by her friendliness, humor, and charisma. These characteristics allowed her to continuously keep a conversation going for hours with someone she just met. While she was willing to talk about any topic with anyone, she kept her personal life to herself and to her close friends. I really admired how open Alisa would become when discussing her life with people she was close to. It is difficult to open up to anyone, but it takes, even more, courage to be completely honest with people you care about. The reason being, they have a large impact on your life, so you want to be accepted by them. However, Alisa was brave enough to tell her friends and family the problems she was dealing with. In addition, when she needed help with an important decision she would ask people for their suggestions. Asking people for their opinion allowed her to get multiple perspectives instead of dealing with a situation herself. We all need to be more open with the ones we care about because they will not judge us. In fact, they will gladly help and appreciate you for trusting

Homelessness in america is a huge problem and most of the time nothing is done about it. My claims for there to be a solution is for the people to unite and peacefully protest for the government to step in and do something about it. Or they themselves unite and do their best to their financial ability. The best and fastest solution is for the people to help out because if you ask the government for help they will but it will be a very long process. For example there is a bunch of people that are homeless and even those who have low income have asked for help from the government but they take so long to help.…

Many Americans have several misconceptions about homelessness or homeless people. Homelessness affects people of all races, age, religions, and genders. The horrifyingly common belief that homeless people are all bums, criminals, drug addicts, and mentally ill that are trying to scalp off of government welfare programs, or the working-class’s pocket-money is not only dehumanizing, it is entirely incorrect. Additionally, the ideology that homelessness is just a housing problem or worse, a temporary condition that most people fall out of remains disturbing. These misconceptions are dangerous and interfere with any systemic attempts to help the homeless population.…
