Essay On Nurse Interview

I interviewed Ms. Stephanie Sims for my Nurse Interview. She is my colleague of two years but she has been a nurse for three and half years now. She is one of the good and knowledgeable nurses on the floor. If you ask patients, they will tell that she is one of the most caring nurse and always has a smile on her face. Stephanie is smart, caring, compassionate, flexible, hardworking, and a dependable nurse. When I asked about what made her choose nursing as a career, she gave me a long answer which I tried my best to put down in a short paragraph. She said that nursing has always been a passion of hers. People think nowadays that nurses are there to give medicine and to do their reports. Today, nurses spend more time charting because of many duties that are being implemented, instead of caring for their patients. Sometimes nurses rely more on technology and on their nurse’s aide if the patient has been repositioned or have had any changes with their skin condition. She is afraid that one day the nurses they may spend less time to care for their patients. She added that a nurse’s image should stay like an angel’s, there to specialize in providing cares and comfort. When I asked her about what the key to being a great nurse is, she said first of all, nurses should be competent and caring. Then she said that being a good listener and an effective communicator is the most important thing. In nursing, she said failure to communicate can have a big impact on the patient’s health. Having excellent communication skills is important in nursing because a nurse is the mediator between the physician and the patient.
