For instance, when I struggle in my schoolwork, she helps me by explaining the content in further detail. She always say, "Effort comes before grades." Although I sometimes do not agree with this saying, my mom has taught me to look on the bright side before looking down on myself. She proves that she is indestructible by facing any obstacles that come at her in any size, shape or form that may prevent her from reaching her ultimate goal. This influences me to follow in her footsteps because it teaches me that I can always manage any difficulties. Not only did she raise me from birth until this day, but she is also like my own personal coach that guides me through this journey. This includes cheering me on at piano recitals or even the smallest things like picking out an outfit for school. My mom goes out of her way to help those who are less fortunate than us. She donates canned foods, clothes, gives money to charity, and spare any loose change she has to the homeless. As a result, she has made me realize how blessed I am to live with a roof over my head, food to eat, and clothes to wear. By my mother's actions, she has made me aware of the things I take for granted each and every day. This leads me to become conscious of what I have and appreciate the gifts I receive as not everyone can be as lucky as I

    A. Autobiographical Statement My mother was the first and only person in her family to graduate from college, which has always been an inspiration to me. She was an abused wife on food stamps, raising two children on her own while my father was incarcerated. I will always remember when she told me that life was like a lotus flower; we may start by growing in the mud but each day we can choose to bloom above the water into a beautiful flower. It was then that I understood my childhood was not my choice, but how I choose to live the rest of my life was. My mother never wavered in her faith that if I wanted to do something in my life the only thing that could hold me back was myself.…

As I reflect on my original paper in addition to class discussions and outside reading I can now say I only had two principals in twenty plus years who I would consider as leaders. In my first paper, I characterized a principal as a strong leader, role model, manager and I would add have to add community leader and change strong leader to a strong visionary leader.
