Personal ethics, in my opinion, is defined as what you as an individual determine to be right or wrong. In my life I try to assess each situation independently and determine the right thing do based upon the circumstances of that particular situation. In my head I try to go through somewhat of a system to come to the right conclusion. One of the first things I think about when I assess a situation is who will this effect and how will it affect them? If what I do or do not do has an impact on numerous people, I must take that into account when I make my decision. There may be some outcomes that benefit me individually but may come at the expense of other people. For example, assume that I got my dream job offer and I would be making a lot more money than I currently do but this job requires me to travel two weeks every month. At first this looks like a great opportunity that I should definitely accept but what if I had a family and kids? Accepting this job would cause me to be away from family and kids almost six months of the year. This would impact them just as much as it impacted me, and in the end my morals and personal ethics would tell me the right thing to do is to not accept the job offer because of the negative impact it would have on my family. The second thing I think about when trying to make a decision is: would this make my parents proud of me? Almost always if my answer to this question is no, I know I should not do
