An Indian Father's Plea, Two Kinds, And Everday Use

Culture is a thing some people don't like to talk about. Some people don't like their cultural heritage because, of how other people treat other not of their own race. Some might look at others as outcast or aliens.

It is clear, when reading "An Indian Father's Plea" , "Two Kinds, and "Everday Use" that culture impacts a person in more than then one way.

"Legal Alien", they we're speaking of how "You may speak Spanish but, you're not like me". In some people's eyes we may be equal but, in many others some of us shouldn't be able to do most of the things we are able to do now.

Also in "what is cultural identity", they said that the "Common culture may be marked by a shared language, history,geography, and frequently physical

He thought of it the way because, he didn't want his friends to think he didn't believe in God. He thought his friends would think he didn't believe in God because his father asked him to go "to an urban powwow or help me with the sacred sweat-lodge ritual,he says no because "that's weird".

Another good example is in "Everyday Use". A mother and two daughters have suffered a tragic accident with fire, it left one scarred and burned. Making her feel ashamed of herself. While her sister Dee "would look anyone in the eye. Hesitation was no Parton her nature". In the story the mother talked about herself said she we're a man. "In real life I am a large, big-boned women with rough, man working hands".

"Two ways to belong in America", is a perfect example of how culture can impacts your life in different ways also. There two sisters, one who is legal in America and one who live on the green card. They both have two different opinions in how they see America. Mira explained how she felt "manipulated and discarded". Meanwhile the other sister says that she perfectly okay with what the new rules are she agrees. She feels more American then she does Indians. She's made a life and is happy with
