In the short story “An Hour With Abuelo,” by Judith Ortiz Cofer, Arturo was resenting visiting Abuelo (grandfather) in the old nursing home. Arturo’s mother was trying to get through Arturo to visit Abuelo. He decided to resolve the problem and go visit his grandfather, So his mother would stop repeatedly nagging him to go. As Abuelo was drop off by his mom he tells her to back in an hour. Arturo walks into room 10 and see Abuelo sitting upright in the bed writing in his journal.
