1618 Seafood Grille is the first of three locations in Greensboro, which opened in 2004. Located in an old firehouse, its ambiance has a rustic yet upscale feel. Once inside, it’s soft lighting and well dressed staff are polite and courteous, which are the first clues to the kind of experience offered at this location. Although, taking a glimpse at their website, prior to one 's dining experience, will prove evident enough to the quality of dining and level of experience one could expect to have. From the perspective of a customer, the restaurant was neat and organized with a clean presentation. The silverware and dishware were free of water spot and a worn appearance signaling a higher attention to detail in their presentation of cleanliness. With respects to the fact that customers are typically not preview to the sanitary conditions of the kitchen, the North Carolina Guilford County Health Department reports that 1618 Seafood Grille has received a ninety seven or above for the past five years. The Department also explains the violations that resulted in the deduction of points, most of which were minor deductions on issues with relatively simple solutions (“North Carolina”). One last area of potential scrutiny is the restroom facilities. Despite a little dust on the walls and room to improve the overall appearance, the restrooms were clean while paying a bit of attention to an upscale atmosphere. For instance, instead of paper towels they offered cloth towels for drying one’s hands.
