In the photo essay “, Farming on the Frontlines in Gaza,” the author Jost Franko discusses the worn-torn farmers of Palestinian farmers and how they deal with growing crops when war is all around them. He talks about how the country’s location impacts them because of the countries ongoing battles. Franko is arguing that these worn-torn countries need protection and support because they are barely surviving in these awful conditions. Franko does a good job at doing this by showing photos of many different disasters these people are facing and then using text to better help explain what is going on in them.…

Luke Martin Landscape of Hope and Despair 4/10/17 Landscape of Hope and Despair examines the refugee experience in Lebanon through the medium of spatial practices and identity, set against the backdrop of prolonged violence. Peteet argues that Palestinians have dealt with their experience as refugees by focusing attention on how a distinct Palestinian identity has emerged from over fifty years of refugee history. Specifically, she argues that Palestinians living in refugee camps in Lebanon have produced an association between geography and identity which challenges some of the core ideals of the modern nation. The gas fills my lungs and scorches my chest. I eagerly try to suck in air but am met only with suffocation.…
