Freedom is the basis of this country. It’s why people sacrifice and sacrificed their lives. Freedom, to me, means sacrifice and choice. Without freedom, our country wouldn’t be as superior and immense as it is today. Freedom means sacrifice. One prominent example of this is the military. The military helps to protect and secure the freedom of the citizens of the U.S. They are the underdogs of our country, giving their lives up for people who may not even notice or recognize their dedication to our country. Our nation would be crumbling if the military didn’t exist. Another sacrifice is taxes. Yes, it doesn’t seem like any sort of sacrifice, but it is. In order for some of the programs, like school and congress, to operate, we have to pay taxes. We sacrifice our money, which is also spent on our wellbeing and happiness, on programs so that our country can govern our country, while making most of the programs free of charge. The reason our country is so robust and ebullient and sacrifices so much is for the freedom of choice. One reason is for the freedom of speech. In most countries, people aren’t allowed to speak freely and express themselves. Some people aren’t even allowed to wear certain clothes, and some have to cover up even more than what is necessary. Another reason is for the freedom of religion. The reason the Pilgrims immigrated here was for religious freedom from Britain. Religion is another reason why this country was created. In most countries, people can’t worship their religion or else they could be arrested, and in other countries, people have to worship a certain religion. Because of how many choices we can make in our daily lives, the U.S. is considered a place of opportunities. The choices we’re able to make represent the freedom we have in the
