Whatever it is it still considered a desire. James Allen once said "If your real desire is to do good, there is no need to wait for money before you do it." This can have various interpretations. Almost language spoken or written by anybody in the world has the ability to be broken apart to procure deeper meaning. This quote is no different. All homes are started with the hopes of giving a family in need a place to live, and also started with only a fraction of what it cost to construct the entire home. The home is started in the hopes that things will be donated along the way. This is a demonstration of James Allen’s quote because the committee responsible for the construction of the house does not wait for the money required to complete the entire home before starting. This subject may seem frightening to many, including myself. In the passage “Entitlement” from Robert Samuelson’s 1995 book The Good Life and Its Discontents Samuelson talks about a “paradox of our time” (Samuelson 1995). That paradox is entitlement, in 1995 America had adopted a different assumption on society creating the paradox of the American society which is feeling bad when doing good. In the passage Samuelson accurately explains the shifts in views, from the early century to the more recent years of 1995, of the American society and how they have evolved from the past to the present.…

This dream happened to be achieved by two men who got to that level of success by doing what they love, and making sure they were the best at it. Considering how both Andrew Carnegie and Bill Gates are derived from different beginnings. They both embraced life’s challenges and made the decisions necessary to, one, become the wealthy men they desired to be, and two, not forget about those in need, through charity work. Each essay presented in the chapter six conversation section expresses a perspective on what each individual's responsibility is to their community. Out of the seven beliefs presented, I find the idea that the rich should give their wealth to those in need the most compelling. In certain circumstances, those less fortunate need as much help as they can get. It’s a strange idea to think that there’s people who have billions of dollars in their bank account while there are still undeveloped countries where children are starving to death. They struggle to find clean water and food.…
