An Essay About Ellie's Relationship

Ellie described he was a person who believes profoundly in god and Ellie was jewish. Ellie’s relationship was very good in the beginning of night. “We spoke that way almost every evening, remaining in the synagogue long after all the faithful had gone”. Ellie and Moishe the beadle always talked to each other about “Why did they pray… Why did I live? Why did I breathe?” Ellie is basically saying that he can't live without praying because it helps him live. Moishe the beadle truly understood Ellie right there and it kinda changed the way he thought about life and god. They don't know why they pray they just do it and hoping that god is listening. Ellie in the beginning didn’t doubted God because how profoundly he believed and God has been answering Ellie so far and Ellie never had a reason to doubt god. “As for me, I ceased to pray. I concurred with Job! I was not denying His existence, but I doubted His absolute justice.” Ellie is saying he gave up on praying and still believed god existed but doubted his justice. From the beginning of the book Ellie’s faith has changed a lot. Instead of profoundly believing in God, he barely even prays to god now. Saying that God is the accused is showing that Ellie has totally gave up on god and god is showing his wrath on Ellie and not helping him. When Ellie saw the kid get hung on the gallows it really hit Ellie and he was very poignant. I think that’s when Ellie finally realized god is not going to help him, and he was all alone with nothing to lose. I think Ellie still believes in god, but he is mad at god because god won't help the innocent jews. If Ellie disbelieves in god he is probably thinking that he isn’t really there because no miracles or something amazing has happened to save
