Aaliyah was a beautiful, bright, and Intelligent young lady that took the world of R&B by shock when she began writing and recording her music. On January 16, 1979, Micheal and Diane Haughton brought a New born baby by the name of Aaliyah Dana Haughton. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, but was raised in Detroit Michigan. At the age of 11 she performed with Gladys Knight, a famous R&B singer. Gladys Knight Spoke out and said "she had a refreshing outlook for one so young, with true respect for her art and for her elders." At the age of 15 Aaliyah succeed to the charts with her album "Age ain’t nothing but a number" produced by R&B singer-songwriter Robert Kelly …show more content…
Aaliyah and at that time producer, R.kelly had gotten married. At that time Aaliyah was 15 and R.kelly was 28. Her family was not pleased by her decision that she had made. The only way she got married was to lie on her marriage license, which she did and she said she was 18. Aaliyah Family was outraged but mostly her father and her parents annulled the marriage in February. February 7, 1995(seven months) is when it ended. After the whole marriage incident ended Aaliyah got back to work. In 1996 Aaliyah released her sophomore album “one in a million”. Aaliyah Graduated From the dance program at Detroit high school for the fine and performing arts in 1997. Aaliyah started to branch off. She wanted to do more than music so she debuted in movies. Aaliyah featured in the 2000 action hit Romeo must die, co-staring martial arts star jet li. Jet Li said “she was a wonderful and talented artist who will be missed by everyone whose lives she touched.”Aaliyah performed her hit single “try again’ off the soundtrack off the movie which she was also the executive producer.
