Also, air pollution contributes to global warming. The major problem is that vehicle of ownership has been growing due to rapid industrialization worldwide, especially in the developing countries with larger populations. The best method to contain climate change is to control carbon emissions. However, the company’s objective is to maximize profit by any means. Furthermore, U.S. officials said Volkswagen violated two parts of the federal Clean Air Act and could face fines of as much as $37,500 per car, or more than $18 billion (Boston et al., 2015). This is very relevant to sustainability because of the huge effect it would have on the environment.
