One of their key functions being constituent representation. This is when each party in Congress must represent the views and values of the people of their district. The reason I bring up constituent representation is because I think the people have not been properly represented. The article mentions how most Americans are in favor of gun control and believe it would help prevent further gun violence. It is hard to believe Congress when they say the reason nothing has been done about gun laws is because the American people aren’t passionate enough, despite there being poll numbers that prove this wrong. It seems like Congress is ignoring the majority and siding with the loud minority.
It also doesn’t seem like they are doing much conflict resolving and more like ignoring the issue all together. Conflict resolution is another key function of Congress where their job is to resolve the differences between each perspective. They don’t seem to be taking the issue of gun safety seriously. They say they want Americans to show that gun laws are top priority, and when they do, Congress is stubborn and doesn’t want to change their ways in fear of hurting this small but loud minority of people who do oppose gun
