It does not require an alarmist to declare and show that the current show is in conflict and in dire need of peace. Yet this peace remains elusive and there is no end in sight to the current world that is at war with itself. Middle East has always remained a hotbed of untold conflict and its puzzling how this conflict has carried on for decades now. Syria falls into this country; of a country that is devoid of peace and people who are fleeing their motherland instead cherishing the fruits of their ancestors. Refugees have been an unprecedented yet an expected consequence on the Syrian conflict, it would be hypocritical of the world; with special reference to the US, and other world powers to deny …show more content…
It is puzzling that the Vienna Convention on Syrian Refugees came to a consensus that the key to the current conflict in Syria is through a political solution. However, due to the conflicting interests at the global stage, the modality of implementing has become a cause of disagreement. The fabricated conflict and largely superficial enmity between Russia and US has delayed the solution to a people who are so much dreading for change and peace. It is one thing to lead a peaceful country but it becomes morally wrong to deny innocent people; women and children, the chance for peace for the sake of self-interests and to prove a point. Russia and US are known enemies but what puzzling is that there has not been major influx of Russian or American citizens seeking asylum and thus to such countries; refugee is just another concept to perpetuate their enmity at the expense of tears and pints of blood of the Syrian refugees. As David Miliband, John McCain, Leon Wieseltier, and David Ignatius discussed at the forum, deep thoughts on the viability of safe-zones, greater humanitarians’ assistance areas and urgent resettlement of refugees is required. The international community should begin by marshaling financial supports for Syrian through financing innovative mechanisms such as concessional loans by the World Bank. Measures should be aimed at increasing the host communities’ resilience (Özden, 2013). there needs to be a critical analysis on the importance of having countries having veto powers in global forums that are meant to be impartial and work for the best interests of the world. It is puzzling when one realizes that stakes have simply reigned over this noble cause and any world debate is not insulated from this reality. The Syrian refugee will soon become a global crisis and the US needs to do more. The international tools allow countries to take action to a government that commits genocide and autocracy to its citizens and time has come to play this card. The excuse of essential contact and respect for sovereignty should be taken in context of countries that are at peace and this is clearly lacking in Syria (Haass & Martin,
