An Analytical Essay On Brice's Narrative Fiction

She was a young writer with a bestseller already under her belt. Josie’s friend and agent, Brice, had urged her to write a second novel. She wanted to; she could feel the story bubbling, straining to surface, but she couldn’t break through. It was driving her crazy!
Josie voiced her concern to Brice. He was sympathetic as he heard her out. Reaching into his shirt pocket, he took out a small plastic bottle. He explained the little pink pills would help get her back on track. He urged her to take a couple. She trusted him. In blind faith, she took and swallowed them. It seemed in no time at all, she began writing, her fingers flying furiously over the keyboard.

Josie was a mess. A dirty robe hung askew on her anorexic frame, dark circles surrounded her eyes. He knew trouble when he saw it. But the book came first.
He crossed the littered room to the glass-top end table and cleared a space. He tipped a vial of white powder onto the glass. With practised precision, he cut it into fine, straight lines. Brice showed her what to do. In her broken mind, she followed his suit. Instantly, she was on top of the world! He smiled as he left, leaving the remaining powder behind.
Josie, bursting with exuberance, happily went right to work. The final chapter, which had seemed so distant, swiftly came to life.
The end! She was finished! It was definitely another bestseller. She was elated! She needed to celebrate! Laughing hysterically, she spun and danced around the room in wild abandonment. In her excitement, she thought of Brice and smiled. She was so lucky to have such a good friend. He had been there when she needed him the most, helping her through her black times with the book.
Josie collapsed onto the sofa by the glass end table and noticed the powder, several lines of it still untouched
What the hell, why not? she thought. She wouldn’t need it anymore,
