Cantú provides his readers with insight into the conditions faced at the border, and argues that there must be a more humane way to deal with this issue. Watching people struggle with an issue that Americans take for granted is extremely agonizing to watch. Therefore, it is vital to ensure that people stay educated about these current issues so that Americans may strive and say with confidence that this country truly is a “melting pot,” accepting all races, cultures, and backgrounds.
