John Steinbeck's 'Who Moved My Cheese?'

“Who Moved My cheese?” describes what everyone strives for in life and what make us happy. Cheese is a representation something that we strive for, and something to we hope to gain or achieve in life. I think that cheese is also something that comforts us, like home or maybe the gym. Something or somewhere we feel comfortable at, something that does not take us out of our comfort zone. The story also portrays people or characters that are don’t adapt and hate change. Different people deal with change differently, and some people refuse to change their daily routine because it makes them uncomfortable. The maze is a representation or life, and how you never know what is around the corner, and how you’ll adapt to it. In “Who Moved My cheese?”, I identify most with is Scurry. When I think of scurry, I think of action, and fast thinking. When the mice discovered that the cheese was running low, the quickly decided to go find more cheese. I think the military has made me the same way. A lot of the times, you have to be able to think fast, and have the ability to change because you never know when the mission is going to change or if there is going to be stuff added into what you already were planning to do. Quick reaction limits the amount of emotion tied to something, so for me that make change comes easy. Though a downside to Scurry is that that he …show more content…
A lot of the times you don’t see the things that are in front of you, or your faults until your read or see them firsthand. I could relate to each on the characters at some point in the book, whether it was by their actions, or just a trait. I think this book is a good book for a freshman class to open their eyes and let them see how the relate to these characters, and what they can do to fix themselves. This book gives its reader skills for understanding and dealing with change, and hot identify small changes so that you can be prepared for inevitable big

I sympathized with the character throughout the entire story. Favorite Quote: One of my favorite quotes was,”If I had wanted to kill him, he’d be dead”. This was important in the story because it's a teenager talking about an adult. Recommendation: I would recommend this book and other S.E. Hinton books to others because they are gritty and realistic in the way they depict the hard lives some kids live.…

This book felt like it took the whole year to read, but it was a good book. The movie is a lot better but that might just be because I hate reading. Mr. Hill was kind and friendly to all of his students, unless someone fell asleep in his class. Someone had fallen asleep during our class period one day while we were reading our books, so he had everyone who was awake go out into the hallway.…

I find that this book, especially the last chapter, taught me not to take things at face value. I believe that I will be more cautious as to form an opinion based on just what the outer appearance is. In addition, it taught me that life is a copulation of events that continue to form and shape us to deal with challenges in the future. Each of these seamless events creates a stronger ability to deal with both the good and the bad adventures we…

It all had started when we went to the bar after the incident with Lennie, George was semi drunk but he told us the story of how George and Lennie came to us. “It all started when we were on the road and the bus driver left us behind,” he said as I listened in. “We were walking on the road and the sun was setting, we stopped up for camp,” George said as I thought about George’s unstable emotions. What I thought was that if Lennie was with George all those years, even when they were young children, did George ever think of this kind of reckless and sad future? “Lennie stupidly dipped his fingers into some strange lake, luckily it was running,” George said laughing.…

The book that I read was called Not My Type by Melanie Jacobson, it has 225 pages. It took me a little under a month to finish this book. The things that I learned in this book is that people aren't always who they say they are. You need to learn to earn trust rather than just giving it out to anyone. When Pepper (main character) gets her wedding called off by her fiance (Landon)her parents paid off the debt from the wedding.…

This term I started out with what I thought was a pretty easy reading goal. My goal was to read at least two hours every week, not counting the time we read at the beginning of English. I read many articles, mostly things from Buzzfeed, and The Onion. I also started rereading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets when I was in school, outside of school I just finished reading A Separate Peace by John Knowles. Overall I don’t think I met my goal, because some weeks I wouldn’t read at all and other weeks I had read for probably fifteen hours or more, and I never had a very consistent reading schedule.…

My personal favorite character is Beatrice Leep because of the emotional strength she portrays despite the lack of an enthusiastic father or a loving mother. The first of my favorite quotes in this novel is, “Sometimes you're going to be faced with situations where the line isn't clear between what's right and what's wrong. Your heart will tell you to do one thing and your brain will tell you to do something different. In the end, all that's left is to look at both sides and go with your best judgment.” (Hiaasen 160)…

In our seventh grade year, we have read four fascinating novels, To Kill A Mockingbird, The Outsiders, The Book Thief, and Hamlet. All of the books were so diverse, but all of them portrayed the same message of the ups and downs in life. Everybody goes through a tough time at one point of their life and one way that can really help i s literature. It shows that everyone experiences problems and then it lets the audience even more connected when the reader see a similarity from their life to the characters. How does one with higher knowledge look upon lesser intelligence? More often than not, people in society rank themselves above those who cannot do, nor begin to do, the things that they can do. It’s the simple things; being able to work, remember names, make friends etc… that one takes for granted. One does not know what it’s like for people that can’t do these simple things, and one can only imagine. Imagine; not remembering, struggling to fit in society, and always getting in trouble- but never understanding why.…

How did I feel about the book Unlikely Allies? I had lots of difficulty reading the book, from the sudden changes in scenes to the exhausting writing. It felt like a sloppy mess of sudden twists and turns that would, in most books, keep me intrigued, but this did not interest me at all. If the author added just a little bit of flair to the certain parts of the writing then I think I would really enjoy the book. The book had things I didn’t like, a few things I did like, and a couple things I would change.…
