(An Analysis of Three People Chaucer Would Add to The Group Today)
Many ways of life have changed between the years of 1300 and today, 700 years after. Technology, medicine and construction are just a few ways we as humans have discovered superior ways to enhance our ever changing lives. With the change of the modern world, people also began to change. Style, language and the way we act as humans beings has been constantly evolving. In the novel Canterbury Tales written by the famous english writer Chaucer he takes a group of people from all walks of life and goes on a “Pilgrimage” or holy adventure with these people to the city of Canterbury. On the walk each will tell a story to and from Canterbury while Chaucer will write them down. The story made up by Chaucer of course, tells some very erotic and exaggerated stories indeed. It Chaucer were to rewrite to the story today I believe he would be able to add a couple more misfits to the journey. Three people I believe would accompany the trip today are a computer whiz, shop mechanic and a politician. First, I believe that a computer whiz would be the first to join Chaucer on the trip. He would wear blue, faded overalls covered in oil stains. His steel toe work boots would be ripping and fraying showing the shiny metal underneath. He would have a five o'clock shadow beard growing. Like the computer whiz, the mechanic would have ruffled hair and a faded baseball cap covered in stains. He would be a quiet and patient man, but whenever he did talk it would only be about this souped up engine he is building.
