'An Analysis Of The Dangerous Game' By Richard Connell

Decent Essays
The short story The Dangerous Game was filled with intense and intriguing moments that caused me to enjoy it.
The Dangerous Game was written by Richard Connell, I enjoyed it because it was equally intense as it was intriguing. The intense plot of the story was Rainsford escaping Zaroff, Ivan, and the island he is stuck on. I found that the main character, Rainsford, a big game hunter, was a decently bland yet intelligent person. If I could sum up the story one phase it’d be ‘the hunter becomes the hunted’. The island ‘Ship Trap’ controlled by Zaroff is a literal ship trap used to lure people in to the island so he can slay and consume them.
The Dangerous Game was filled with ups and downs with intense moments to intriguing ones. I thoroughly

The novel, Code Talker, written by Joseph Bruchac was good. The book shows the perspective of World War II through Ned Begay; a Navajo Indian. It is in their beliefs that fighting in wars is an honor, so when Begay turned sixteen he lied about his age to get into the military to become a code talker for the Marines. The setting took place at many small and large islands from the U.S. all the way to Japan. This setting affects it’s characters because they had to travel a lot by ship to very hot, humid, obstacle filled islands with thousands of bugs.…

Both books, “Create Dangerously” by Edwidge Danticat and “The Atlas of Global Inequalities” by Ben Crow and Suresh K. Lodha, are very different books, but also both very big eye openers. Both of these interesting books despite their differences could complement each other to get similar information across in different ways. “Create Dangerously” by Danticat was obviously far more personal. For me its way more interesting and impactful when I hear/read real stories of people. So reading these stories of the Haitian people and the hell that the go through just for sharing their experiences was just so eye opening and made these problems not seem more relatable because I have obviously never gone through these things, but more real and in front…

My Story is an in depth story of Elizabeth Smart and her abduction that took place back in June of 2002. People should read this book because of its great portrayal of thoughts and feelings. The book takes you into Elizabeth’s mind and gives the reader a great insight of what she felt throughout the whole nine month kidnapping. It’s very emotion with this touch too. Once you get to the end, where Elizabeth finally gets back in touch with her family, you can feel the unending joy she felt as you read “Some people may live their entire lives and never feel what we felt in that moment.”…

There are several things that I liked about the story, from the actual content to the word choice and sentence structure. I really liked how Phillips said “my visit to Africa proved less of a homecoming than an affirmation of my Americanness.” I felt the same way in 2009 when I returned to my homeland, Moldova. I immigrated to the US when I was five years old and had little memory of Moldova. Even though I lived in the USA for six years, and was going to continue living here for the rest of my life, I still did not consider myself an American. 2009 was the first time I was going back to my home country after moving to the United States.…

This six weeks I was reading one of the best books I have ever read, The Red Badge of Courage. The Red Badge of Courage is about a young boy who is in a heated battle between the Unions and the Confederates. While reading this book many things stood out to me, like the way the author wrote. Stephen Crane, the author was able to write in a such a way that created a vivid image in your head of how the battle was going. Also, Stephen Crane was able to make you feel like you were playing in the battle because of all the strange and varied emotions he made you feel while reading the novel.…

Human Nature is the way a person thinks, feels, and acts that are common to most people. It can be described as a way people act on instincts. We can appreciate and talk about the good side of human nature, in that, humans attribute positive actions, however there are also people who can cover up their evil side of human nature. In the stories “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell and “The Child by Tiger” by Thomas Wolfe, we can see the secluded evil side of human nature is acknowledged through both the characters Dick Prosser and General Zaroff. Each of these evil sides are prompted by two different influences.…

The short story “Young Goodman Brown” was very interesting to me. Throughout the story it was constantly keeping my attention because you never really knew what was going to happen next. At some points it got kind of confusing with the old english they used and also all the irony throughout the story. Even though they used a lot of irony I loved how they used it with Faith as she is a person but as also tied to religion. Lastly, the story well written and had a very deep meaning.…

There is a strong difference between surviving and thriving in society. More often than not, most people spend their time in a constant state of survival, which many refer to as living paycheck to paycheck. Unlike most people, an elite few live in a state of comfort without the thought of hours and wages. The elite, therefore, has the time, energy and resources to be invested in the economics of their society, unlike the average individual who is consumed by a will to live. Similarly, the intention of the game is to accumulate the most points and endure, using the materials you are given.…

“The State of Phishing Attacks” by Jason Hong provides an enlightening summary of the current state of phishing attacks. First, Hong defines and describes different types of phishing attacks. Second, he describes the motivations behind these attacks. Third, he notes how people create different attacks (e.g. fake phishing email, setting up fake websites, etc.) and he discusses the corresponding motives behind these types of attacks (e.g. using these tools to gain sensitive or confidential information from unsuspecting users). Fourth, Hong cites studies that shed light onto why people fall for phishing attacks.…
