An Analysis Of The Candle Light Vigil Event At The MNSU Fountain

Last night, I attended the candle light vigil event at the MNSU fountain. It was worth it to attend the event because the event itself was so precious to so many people that came out to remember the people who passed away from opioid overdosed. This show that they love and care for the people who are gone and they will never be forgotten. At the candle light vigil, I saw a woman holding a picture and in the picture, I saw a lady with a little girl. I assume it was her sister and her kid, but I wasn't sure. I know that she was there for a reason and that reason is to remember the person in the picture. Also, we all get the chance to hold a candle and walk to the fountain to have a peaceful quiet moment. There was a person speaking at the fountain, but I couldn't hear what she said because I was at the further end of the fountain. All I heard was the noise from the water and everything else was quiet even when the person on the other side was speaking. I think the event lasted about …show more content…
I never thought I would attend any event like this because I thought it was just something else, nothing important. Now, I know how an event like this is important to some people because it has affected them or the people that are close to in some ways. It means more to them than other people who are there to support. Also, I just wish I had the chance to hear what the woman was saying last night, so I can get more information. Overall, the candle light vigil was great because I get the chance to participate in holding the candle and seeing how beautiful they are. I feel like if more people participate and not having a limitation, the event would be a lot better along with hearing the person speaking. It won’t make other people feel left out and feeling like they are just there. As for me, I did feel that peaceful feeling that I can’t explain being there and I do enjoy the candle light

Attending this festival made me feel closer to home since I come from a town that the majority of the population are Mexican. While I was waiting for FAMA to perform it was heartbreaking that in the crowd a child got lost and it took a while for the parents to find him. I was surprised at the parents, because they saw how many people were there and some would still let their children be running around. Therefore, it was a pleasure to attend the Chicano Park Festival because it have insight on the significance of the…

Give examples of how the practice of ministry has affected your experience and understanding of A) God At the core of my understanding of God is a God of love in covenantal relationship with God’s children. Romans 8:38-39 says it well; “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The practice of ministry has only proven to strengthen that belief. I was called early Saturday morning to sit with a family who had just learned of the death of their daughter/granddaughter in a vehicle accident.…

As we were preparing for the heart gala and the volunteers were arriving, I look over and see Henry beating on a base drum with a drum stick. He, his twin brother Ben and his older sister Emily are all playing without a care in the world as their parents run around organizing the set up. Susan, dressed very nicely for the occasion, comes over to the volunteers and thanks us all for our time and efforts with the gala. As the gala begins Susan walks on to the stage past the keyboard and guitars and stops at the mic. She begins by thanking everyone for coming and says “we don’t always think of children when we think of heart disease.”…

I decided to attend an open Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting that is held every Friday of the week at 8:00 pm at the Presbyterian church. This AA group was a fairly large group with around fifty people showing up, individuals would get into three small groups and decide on a “table leader” and then go about their business. This offers clients the opportunity to talk and express any hardships on their minds, things that went on throughout the week and how it made them feel, discuss backgrounds, along with make a supporting friend and potential sponsors to help in their recovery process. I did not just attend the AA meeting, about half way through the meeting I learned about an Al-Anon group meeting that was going on in another room and decided…

Leadership on the line by Ronald A. Heifetz and Marty Linksys is a very timely book. Maggie’s description of her Indian community and the effects of alcohol made me think of many urban communities and the pain that lurks in those communities. The stories she shares about Lois and the heart she had for her community and desire to make it better make you think we need more leaders like that. Lois leadership inspired me because she saw something wrong in her community she believed she could bring change. Lois is a good picture of servanthood she doesn’t sit and think someone should so something…
