Writing for Langston Hughes-Option B In the story “Thank Ya M’am” Roger, the main character tries to steal a woman's purse, but she stops him. Instead of giving him over to the authorities she brings him home, lets him bathe and gives him food and money. I think that she did the right thing, and it will set him on the right path. Some people would argue that letting the authorities lecture him would better teach him not to steal. One reason I think she handled the situation correctly is because it will show him that there are good people in the world. If he grew up stealing he probably doesn’t have many friends. If he sees some compassion. It might show him that the world isn’t so cold.
