Just as Webster’s character evolves, Sheila’s traits transition thus moving the plot. Sheila demonstrates the need depended on other people so that she could be rescued. When her ex-boyfriend showed up she revealed to Webster that after late night shifts, she would be harassed and threatened but after her escorted her to her car, threats and harassments stopped (90-94). Furthermore, he got her an apartment and soon started a romance despite him having his own wife and kids (95). Despite Webster himself saving Sheila from her first car wreck, and helping her restart her life, and then marrying her after her past. Another example of her dependency, is later on in the story when we find out what happened after Webster made her leave their family.
