An Analysis Of Schools Should Push Back School's Bell Schedule

Improved Essays
Has your school ever caught you snoozing in class. If so schools should push back the school's bell schedule because it give the students more sleep and feel more energized for school. I claim that school should push back bell schedules because of sleep time, education, and less emotion.
First, sleep is a big thing for teens that can’t get up in time for the bell. According to Junior Scholastic, “Jilly organized a social media campaign that convinced her school to start later at 8:55 a.m. “I have no issues getting up now,” she says. “Things aren’t so rushed and stressful. I’m not a zombie for part of the day,” (20) If kids don’t get enough sleep, then the kids will be energized and ready for the school day. The quote shows how Jilly has no

The article ridiculously early start times can cause problems for kids written by Molly Shea she quotes “According to doctors, getting less than eight hours of shut eye can be a serious risk for teens.”. When the kids wake up earlier, they in turn makes kids feel like there is not enough time to eat and makes them feel rushed. When kids don't eat breakfast, they don’t have the energy to get through the day all the way to lunch. Kids are sort of like cars, if they don't have the energy they don't run or run right. If a car doesn't have gas it doesn't run or run…

It has been shown in studies that an extension to students sleeping schedule reduced the amount of car accidents student 16-18 were involved in. “a change in start time from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in Fayette County, Kentucky yielded a dramatic decrease in car accident rates for 16-18 year olds,” (Erde). This shows that a later wake up time has helped students 16-18 be more alert when driving. This means that if every school started at 8:30 a.m. students would have less risk going to school in the morning. Wouldn’t that alertness carry into what they do in school also.…

Less Likely: Reasons Why Schools Should Start Later Most students go to school early, come home longing for sleep, and stay up long hours into the night doing homework. However, this is detrimental to their health and performance. Many school boards assume that tired teenagers are just part of the high school experience. They do not see sleep deprived teenagers as being a big enough problem to change the school start times.…

All middle and High schools should start the educational day later to allow the adequate amount of sleep for America’s teenage youth. Too many schools across the country begin the day before student minds are awake, alert, and ready to successfully take on the day. Students from the sixth to twelfth grade are currently attending school before their brains have had time to prepare for the day. This makes everything they do, including simple everyday tasks, far more of a challenge than it typically should be. Oftentimes, teenagers, as well as society as a whole, put sleep on the backburner.…

Have you ever been late to school because you slept in. Well I have done that because I did not go to bed at the right time. Mostly everyone has a time to be in bed, because of school in the morning and some kids don’t follow that rule which the students should. The students should follow that rule because they have school in the morning and they have to be there early. I believe that the time of school should stay the same because it would cost more money, you wouldn't have problems if you went to bed earlier, and it would disrupt after-school activities if we went later.…

Did you know that only one in every five middle and high schools start after 8:30 A.M, yet the American Academy of Pediatrics has recommended that middle and high schools start after 8:30 A.M. Students that don’t get enough sleep are more likely to be overweight, not engage in daily physical activity, suffer from depressive symptoms, engage in unhealthy risk behaviors such as drinking, smoking tobacco, and using illicit drugs, and perform poorly in school. American Academy should start later because students are more likely to have bad things happen to them, and students cannot learn well when their brains are still asleep. Most students that don’t get enough sleep engage in things that are unhealthy. The CDC states that students who don’t get enough sleep are more likely to be overweight, not engage in daily physical activity, suffer from depressive symptoms, engage in unhealthy risk behaviors such as drinking, smoking tobacco, and using illicit drugs, and perform poorly in school. Students that got about nine hours of sleep are more likely to improve their health, mindset, and academic results.…

It's back to class, and less sleep, for many high schoolers. One in particular is Nicole Bankowski. She is in the student council, sings in choir, edits the high school's newspaper, and she has to take 4 AP classes. “It’s probably not the healthiest way to live, but it’s the only way to get everything done,” said Bankowski. It's said in the article that all teenagers should get up to 8.5 to 9.5 hours of sleep.…

Changing high school start times is beneficial to student’s health and well being. Many teens only get 6-7 hours of sleep per night due to strenuous school work, although these teens need 8.5 to 9.5 hours of sleep per night. In many cases it is not easy for teens to get this much sleep because many teens are unable to fall asleep before 11pm out of habit. “Adolescents’ brains are wired to go to sleep late and wake up late, making it difficult for them to get a good night’s sleep before a 7:30 am first period class.” (Ingraham, Washington Post)…

Argument Essay What if I told you that the reason teens not being able to go to bed before 11 isn’t mainly their fault. Sure if they 're watching YouTube eating, and drinking energy drinks all night long than we could say that this is primarily the reason they complain about being tired for school. But what about the kids that find themselves tossing and turning all night long until they realize they 're alarm just went off. Various students find themselves waking up anywhere from 6am, to 7am right before their bus comes.…
