An Analysis Of Santiago's 'Boy In Beowulf'

The boy was taught by many people throughout his journey. One of Santiago’s teachers was his sheep. An example of the sheep teaching the boy is this quote, “ They trust me, and they’ve forgotten how to rely on their own instincts, because I lead them to nourishment.”. Thourgh this quote we can come to the conclusion that the sheep help the boy realize, how to earn trust and keep it, and also responsibility for himself and others. In the quote it is referring to the boy not wanting to kill the sheep because he has their trust and they need him to survive. Because the sheep are so dependent on him it teaches Santiago responsibility.
