It is anticipated that this target market will be the cornerstone of the organization’s sales/revenue and as such, the target market should always be at the forefront of any organizational business decisions. Ronnie’s Refreshments is located in Greenville, South Carolina and will initially be sold strictly within the local market. As such, Ronnie’s Refreshments should complete research to better understand the local demographic and the area’s potential customers. According to the latest U.S. Census information available, the local demographic breakdown for Greenville, South Carolina is as follows. Greenville, South Carolina has a population of 498,766, a median age of 37.7, 86.7% of the population has at least graduated high school, and the median household income is $50,540. After analyzing the demographic information for Greenville, the local community is a respectable size, without being considered overly large. However, one specific demographic stood out to me. The median household income for Greenville is below the national average (which is $59,039). This means Ronnie’s Refreshments’ products should not be overly expensive; otherwise, the organization will be severally limited to the number of potential customers able to afford our products. Ronnie’s Refreshments is part of the healthy beverage industry, with an initial focus particularly in health juices. Therefore, determining any trends in the health beverage or juice markets would be beneficial to the company. One such trend in the health beverage industry is the increase in natural beverage products. Per Wayne Lutomski the Vice President of Welch’s Global Ingredients Group, “”Natural” has become a significant draw for healthy beverage consumers, driven by consumers who are increasingly looking to proactively manage their well-being with healthy lifestyle practices. Ultimately, consumers are looking for high-quality beverages that taste good, are dense in nutrients, and intrinsically wholesome. Taste alone isn’t enough to satisfy many of today’s consumers.” This trend and sentiment aligns perfectly with Ronnie’s Refreshments core concepts of providing: great tasting, natural, no sugar added, health juices to our customers. Another trend within the market is the reduction of sugars, per Emily Laurence “it was very clear that brands have heard consumers’ request for more zero-added sugar options.
