An Analysis Of Ricardo Arteaga's Arguement For O-1B Visa

Decent Essays
I write to you in support of Ricardo Arteaga’s petition for the O-1B Visa. I believe that he deserves to be

granted this visa due to his talent as an Audio Engineer.

I am a graduate from Berklee College of Music with a Music Production degree. I am a Grammy and Latin

Grammy award-winning engineer. I have had the opportunity of working as an audio engineer on films

such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Kick-Ass, Warcraft, as well as TV shows like Castle, Scream, and

Revenge. In addition, I have worked with Latin artists like Juanes, Los Tigres del Norte, Dulce Maria, Pepe

Aguilar and more.

I met Ricardo eight months ago when he started working at Igloo Music Studios. He immediately became a

very resourceful and creative assistant engineer.

Devyn Vermette POLS 100 01 News Analysis 4 Trump May Weigh In On H-1B Visas, But Major Reform Depends On Congress The news story I chose this week on NPR, covered the pressing need for reform of the H-1B visas. This H-1B program grants permission for “thousands of highly skilled foreigners” work in the United States. This article seems to pertain specifically to the technical jobs that they uphold in the U.S. Essentially, this system has become corrupt due to things like a lottery deciding who receives the visas, foreign workers coming in and stealing jobs from Americans for a smaller wage and general corruption by big companies.…

Enrique’s Journey illustrates a strong argument on the issue of immigration that is cleverly hidden in the binding of the narrative novel. In effect, Sonia Nazario is able to extend her arguments with a higher degree of success by appealing to emotion more so than logic. Her use of pathos significantly outweighs any arguments grounded on logic, therefore she inherently establishes a persuasive text that encourages the audience to avoid objectivity and read the book through a lens of emotion. More so, the humanization of the issue of immigration by establishing empathy with Enrique and the various sub-narratives in the book add to the emphasis placed on creating a persuasive text rather than a balanced and informative nonfiction book. Ever since September 11 happened, some Americans have been under the impression that all immigrants are dangerous. They do not want any immigrants in the U.S. and feel that they should be deported. These Americans who feel this way use excuses such as, immigrants take away our jobs and our health care. These excuses show what little knowledge Americans have about immigrants.…

Immigration Reform can go either way, by helping immigrants and asylum seekers or placing further restrictions on their lives by ever more punitive laws. One part of the act would make it more difficult for those fleeing persecution to find asylum here. Bishop Gerald Barnes of San Bernardino, CA chair of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishop’s Committee on Migration wrote on April 25 to the House and Senate conferees on the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act, emphasizing that the Real ID Act would have “extraordinarily harmful impacts on asylum seekers.” Among other destructive provisions, it would allow judges to deny asylum claims if those seeking protection could not provide documents providing documents proving the persecution-…

In “Be American,” Carlos Bulosan reveals the lack of choice a Filipino had at the time through the story of someone’s cousin, Consorcio, and his struggle to gain citizenship in America. Bulosan’s short story shares this idea of no choice with a political cartoon known as “What Will He Do,” which depicts President McKinley deciding whether or not to keep the Philippines or “send them to Spain” while the globe watches for his decision. Through the visual of President McKinley making a decision for the Philippines, the political cartoon “What Will He Do,” argues the Philippines are deprived of choice. “Be American” mirrors this argument by linking the Consorcio and his cousin to the idea of lack of choice.…
