Quentin Tarantino is an American actor, writer, and director. Some of his notable films include the Hateful Eight of 2015, Djengo Unclaimed of 2012, Inglourious Bastards of 2009, Jackie Brown of 1994, Pulp Fiction of 1994, Reservoir Dogs of 1992, and Kill Bill Volume one and two (Film Reference, n.d.). Tarantino’s films are characterized by glorified violence, extended dialogue scenes, use of title card and soundtracks mainly containing songs of between the 1960s and 1980s. Tarantino introduces the characters to the audience as well as explains his plots and settings, not through action but dialogue. He makes use of dialogue in setting up the violence. Tarantino has used this style in both Jackie Brown and Pulp Fiction. He uses dialogues in the scene in Jack Rabbit Slims Restaurants in Pulp Fiction to yield significant clues about the character. In Jack Brown is the dialogue between Ordell and Louis in the van, and Louis is explaining to Ordell hat happened. The dialogues scenes are always between the enemies, and often both or one of the parties are masked to the other party. The disguise hides the true motives of the character, such in a way that it’s through dialogue that the audience knows the real nature. He uses music in creating a tone or mood in his film; however, Tarantino relies on music much more than is usual for a director. He picks typical songs for his films than depending more on original composition. The music selection focuses more on the emotion and tone of the song than the flow with the setting or story of the film. Therefore, this juxtaposition grabs attention due to the unexpected choice. In Jackie Brown, the soundtrack makes uses of various music genres including pop and soul. In Pulp Fiction the film consists of a mix of American surf music, rock and roll, soul, and pop; untraditional soundtrack. Therefore, both films contain kicking throwback soundtracks. In conclusion, violence, extended dialogue, title cards and typical use of music are some of Tarantino’s trademarks in
