They are left leaving indifferent notes, grocery lists, and memos about missed calls. There is no feeling of excitement, and one can see Actor and Actress progress towards a downward spiral. In addition to the lack of newness, they are thrown further off-course from becoming close again when Actress reveals that she is expecting a baby when she says, “We need Pampers. And baby wipes” (1177). Though they both love the baby dearly, Actor and Actress begin growing apart as a couple. They become so consumed with their individual lives that they become cold and calloused towards each other. As Eugenia grows up and moves away, it is a bittersweet time for Actor and Actress; however, they begin to realize that they are able to focus on their relationship more without having to focus on raising a child. When they find their lives beginning to slow down, they go on the honeymoon they “never had” to “enjoy ten glorious days of total togetherness” (1178). Upon their return, Actor and Actress are closer to each other than ever before, and they prepare themselves to live out the rest of their lives
