Although the entire textbook, Music in Special Education, by Dr. Mary Adamek and Dr. Alice-Ann Darrow, thoroughly captures many topics of special education in the music classroom, the second major section of the book, as well as chapter fifteen, provided the greatest impact on my own perceptions and understanding of this subject. Both areas of the book summarize the most common and basic types of special learners you will have in your music classroom.
The first section of interest, chapter fifteen, is entitled “Including Student with Disabilities in Beginning Band”. I personally found this chapter to be beneficial because of many reasons. One reason is that this area of music could quite possibly be a capacity I will be teaching in the near
