In Hush, the woman is a young adult whom writes and is generally antisocial. But, when terrorized, she eventually overcomes her fear and impairment, and kills the assailant. In Don’t Breathe, the Blind Man is very old and is a retired war veteran whose daughter dies in a horrific accident. So, twisted and overcome with grief, he kidnaps his daughter’s killer and attempts to force her to bear his children to replace his daughter’s life. Furthermore, both characters have mental health issues, Maddie hears voices in her head whom tell her all the ways she could die whilst trying to escape, and she even sees visual hallucinations of them.
