But, happiness is even more important. While money can result in happiness and have the advantages to also buy things, those objects will bring temporary happiness into one's life. But eventually, we will get bored of the objects we buy with money and the happiness that we have created with it will, of course, go away. Is it worth it being very wealthy and less happiness than having no money but be happy with building social connections? By the time we reach that goal, we mostly spend a lot more time doing work. Which includes, school work, or just, in general, a job in which will result in overtime working. These results in having less time to spend with those we care about. Unlike materialistic items, happiness from having strong relationships with others last longer. Basically, having a lot of money is great, but if we can’t balance our work hours and spending times quality time with those we love, we won't achieve that happiness we all tend to lack on. We may feel happiness by helping someone in needed or just because. Whether it’s small, or an unplanned act of kindness, it is a powerful way to boost our own happiness with those around helps and us build bonds as well. The article, “Can Helping Other Help You Find Meaning in Life” by Elizabeth Hopper demonstrates, how helping others can find a meaning in life. If people are altruistic they are more likely to build a social connection that leads to a feeling of happiness and well-being. As the research states, “Taken together, these two studies suggest that helping others is beneficial because it fulfills basic human needs and that altruism may be especially important for strengthening our relationship and connecting us with others.” In a way, not only does helping others benefit out own basic need, but it also helps improve our own social connections with others. We are able to find happiness within ourselves because we will feel great in doing an act of kindness to others. It's not always about receiving from others, it's more important in how much we give because we are able to show the compassion and the happiness we have to help one another. The more we give, the more we gain and that’s the purpose of a meaningful life, which also includes happiness.
