Where The Wild Things Are Analysis

Elizabeth Ross is the owner of a dance company in Birmingham called DANCEe. Last year, she choreographed a performance based on the storybook Where The Wild Things Are. This performance was a combination of contemporary “modern” dance and hip-hop. Both of these styles are very misunderstood, and many people do not consider them as actual dance. Both styles are legitimate art. They have a lot of hard work put into them, and can bring you some type of enjoyment. That enjoyment can be emotional or physical, depending on the person. These two styles of dance should be considered legitimate art or legitimate dance, because they have both of these criteria. They need just as much time as ballet or any type of traditional dance. Contemporary has the ability to make a person feel emotions, and hip hop brings more physical enjoyment. Legitimate art is a skill that takes months or years to complete, and are timeless works. When Max runs away to become king of a new world, he feels brave and mighty. When Max dances with the waves, he enjoys this time. Even if it was supposed to be scary for a little boy. Then he meets the monsters of this harsh land, and he becomes their king. For Max is the scariest in the world! Though, this is the story line of a child 's book. The emotions change for an audience seeing it come to life. Andrew Ross, who stars as Max, makes you feel remorse, because he leaves his mother and travels far away. Then he dances with the wave, played by his aunt Elizabeth Ross. This warms people 's hearts seeing two family member sharing the stage. Once Max meets the hip hop dancing monsters, it makes you feel like a little kid. As these serious monsters start popping and locking. Then happiness overwhelms the audience as little Max wants to return to the warmth of his mother. Played by his actual mother Maria
