hroughout this American election I feel everyone can admit that it look and feel more like a reality TV show than an election, however with the the looming election next week, thing are getting more serious. After putting a lot of thought into it, I feel that Canadians should be very concerned with American politics and the looming elections for many reasons. On of those reasons are that the United States of America is Canada’s biggest trading partner, any change in the USA will greatly affect Canada and our GDP. Later, Reagan says, “Girls termed "sexually active” -- and that has replaced the word “promiscuous”-- are given help in order to prevent illegitimate births or abortion.” (paragraph 16) Because Reagan is throwing in a thought of his, he is using the device of Parenthesis. Parenthesis is a word, clause, or sentence inserted as an explanation or afterthought into a passage that is grammatically complete without it, in writing usually marked off by curved brackets, dashes, or commas. I’m not quite understanding of your comment. Are you saying that former Presidents Reagan and Clinton were as vocal against George Dukakis and George W. Bush as Obama is now being against Donald Trump and that there was justification in ’88 and ’00? I am fairly clear on the aforementioned campaigns and Ronald Reagan stayed out of the ’88 election much to the dismay of George Bush. And Bill Clinton, much to his credit, didn’t get involved with disparaging remarks about George W. Bush. What I object to is for a sitting President to be as negatively verbal as Obama and staff.…

Congressional gridlock occurs when the president and Congress fail to pass laws that solve the people’s most controversial issues. A major cause of this is division amongst political parties. Polarized politics also further complicate the process of coming to an agreement on the tough issues. Gridlock would decrease if the parties focused more on resolving these issues instead of opposing each other. A united government means that legislation can be agreed on to pass laws that will address some of our nation’s major issues.…

Writers, readers, composers, researchers and so on need to find a way to adapt to the change that comes with what we call “The Technology Era”. As always there will be two sides to any change; the one that will agree with it and open their arms to it, and a second that will forever talk about how great times used to be when things were done the only way they know to do things because they do not like change or cannot adapt to new. Nicholas Carr (2008) states “I’m not thinking the way I used to think. I can feel it most strongly when I’m reading.…

When I first arrived at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I expected higher education to be a bastion for peoples to freely express themselves, providing the ability for both students and faculty to openly interact and engage with their peers regarding a multitude of subjects. Yet this feeling dramatically changed with time. During my sophomore year, I saw the campus’ College Republicans falsely label the school as anti-free expression due to a funding dispute between the group and student government. Instead of debating the value of bringing in various perspectives to campus, the conversation focused around showcasing a conservative perspective in an arena the College Republicans found as threatening.…
