This is was one of the most important sit ins Moody did because it acted as a catalyst for the Civil Rights Movement. The purpose of the this sit in was for negroes to be served at the front of the lunch counter and not the back. When they first asked to be served at the front the employees freaked out and a mountain out of a molehill by thinking this was one of those violent protests. The simple sit in quickly escalated to a mass riot gathered around the protesters. In the end they didn't accomplish their goal however they at day changed Anne moody. All her life she hated white people for the way they treated the blacks and suppressed them, but it was after that day that she no longer blamed them. She came to the realization that it was a sickness that the whites that were fighting so hard for segregation and supremacy had and that all they were doing was fighting for their way of life that they were so used to. This was a major character development because it shows Anne Moody's maturity in seeing the situation from the other sides perspective. While what the whites were fighting for was completely unjustified it still shows Moody's maturity
