Wolves howling outside your front door. You're Trapped in a house with one of your worst enemies how will you be able to handle it. Will you survive or will you snap? Alma has encountered this same situation when she has to take care of a woman named Sarah. Sarah was very sick and there was a large storm brewing outside. With this big storm brewing she would not be able to reach her house safely. Even though alma did not like Sarah she still took care of her and and did what she needed to for Sarah and herself. Alma could hear the wolves coming towards the house, but she didn't want to freak Sarah out because the wolves would smell her fear and try a lot harder to get into the house, She decided it was best to keep her mouth shut and pretend like nothing was happening. Throughout this whole situation Alma had kept calm and collected for the better of sarah and herself. Another good example of Person vs self would be Shackleton when the uk was going to war and they were going on an expedition, If for example the army needed their ship there expedition would be canceled and ship would be used for battle. Even though shackleton was scared that their expedition would be cancelled he didn't show it. He needed all of his men to remain calm and confident that he could take care of them. He did an exceptional job of this and making sure that everyone was working together. There are many examples of person vs self but Rob showed this multiple times. He had implied this in that he created a turnaround time but was lenient about it because he wanted everyone to experience getting to the top of Mount Everest, but he also kept in mind that they might not all make it to the top. Rob was very caring towards all of his clients making sure they were all healthy and ready to proceed to the summit. Rob was very accepting towards the fact that he had to take personal responsibility for all of the decisions that he

Although many people may believe that the Antebellum South’s views on slavery were just “slaves,” there is a lot that happened behind the scenes when it came to slavery. Honor and paternalism were very large parts of how slave-owners examined their slaves, bought their slaves, and treated their slaves. Correspondingly, honor and paternalism played a huge part in how slaves reacted towards their master and how good their work quality was, either on the plantation or in the house. In Genovese’s article, On Paternalism, he defined paternalism, according to a slaveholder, as “an attempt to overcome the fundamental contradiction in slavery” and also claimed that, “paternalism defined the involuntary labor of the slaves as a legitimate return to…

This verse, and the context surrounding it, is one of my favorites for the emotion of its story, and its importance to my understanding of the nature of God. The martyrdom of the righteous ammonites is one of the most horrible events described in the Book of Mormon; I can’t imagine what a test of faith it would have been for Alma and Amulek to not take action to prevent it. The fact that they stayed their hands is one of the strongest testimonies of the perfection of the plan of salvation that I know of, because the only way they possibly could have is through knowing that the martyred were truly being received unto God in glory. Alma’s explanation in verse 10 is crucial to LDS doctrine, because it provides an explanation for evil being allowed…

Ignoring, and even running away, from a heated situation isn't always the best option. Some people might be scared of facing these situations, maybe because they don’t know what to say or are simply afraid of the consequences. Jamie, the main character in What Jamie Saw, and his mum run away when faced with a difficult situation. What Jamie Saw, by Carolyn Coman highlights the idea of thinking before reacting and that rushed reactions don’t acquire the best results; this is portrayed when the main characters rush out of a heated situation instead of talking (Body Paragraph 1), and when the main characters live in fear instead of thinking about what is best to do(Paragraph 2). ` Rushing isn’t always the best option, especially when it deals with feelings.…

Nothing can be a higher honor then being nominated for, and winning an Oscar. Surprisingly, the individual who managed to bring home the most Oscar wins wasn’t an Actor or Actress, but the legendary Walt Disney, whose short films brought him an incredible 26 Oscar wins and 59 nominations between 1932 and 1969. When it comes to Acting nominations, no actor or actress has brought in more nominations then the Meryl Steep, who has amassed an incredible 20 Oscar nominations over the years, most recently for 2016’s Florence Foster Jenkins. However, Streep does not have the record for most wins. That honor goes to the late great Katherine Hepburn who managed to win 4 Best Actress Oscars between 1932 and 1981.…

The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum is a reflection of the problems in West Germany during the 1970s. It was a time where student movements and political struggles were happening. This was when journalists would stop at nothing to get their name known in the field. The film goes into the human rights violations in what should be a peaceful, democratic country but actually ends up showing the cruel nature of the press and the tendency they have to spread lies and mislead the facts. The lies and confusion that the film exposes emphasizes the silent cooperation between the media and the state, which is essential in maintaining power.…

In Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, Leonato gives a long monologue in Act 4 Scene 1 after his daughter, Hero, faints from her fiancé’s accusations that she was seen with another man the night before their wedding. The words Shakespeare choses Leonato to say in that moment are telling about how women’s purity, trust of nobility, and honor were treated during the Elizabethan era. One of the first things to note is the way Leonato speaks about Hero recovering. He says, “Do not live, Hero, do not ope thine eyes” (line 119).…
