In the story Aaron's gift, a boy named Aaron finds a pigeon whose wing is broken. Aaron takes him brings him home just until it gets better. Later a group of boys say that Aaron can join there group, but only if he brings the pigeon with him. Later he finds out that group wants to kill the pigeon. “Don’t let him get the pigeon! But Aaron had leaped across the fire at carl taking him completely by surprise.” (302) This is telling the reader that the group was about to burn the pigeon but Aaron won’t let them hurt it. Since the pigeon had flown away after he saved it, he had nothing to give to her. “Aarons grandmother kissed him and thanked him for his present which was even better than the pigeon itself.” (302) This is showing that she loved the fact that the pigeon was now free. She loved the gift that she couldn’t physically get, but mentally got. She loved that the pigeon was free. She also loved what Aaron went through to save an animal's life, just for her happiness.
