As an avid and adventurous reader, I've seen a trend in the topics of published stories. Vampires everywhere, shapeshifters galore, the stereotypical heterosexual relationship filled with the typical rifts formed from avoidable arguments have over-saturated the market. Unfortunately, that means this is what readers want to read. There has also been an increase in self-published ebooks, which have lead to a shockingly large amount of poorly written, poorly developed, and unedited books saturating the market. It makes me wonder about how good works from unknown authors can even get published by reputable publishing houses anymore. I am still going to try and get my work published. My personal goals are not as noble as my professional ones. When I graduate I'm going to be sitting on almost 75k of student loan debt, personally, I want to get a few pieces in publication to start generating some income from that to help pay for the bills. Professionally, I need to get published so I have a better chance at securing a job teaching at a college. For now, those are the two biggest goals I have, get published and get a teaching job at a college. Lastly, I will use this new focus the way I previously mentioned, to finish several of my novels. I'm halfway done with one of them now. I have high hopes of getting it published by the end of next
