The last man along with me out of the five that survived were the last to go back and warn the other troops. I wish I could have grabbed something for the two men that died but it was to risky. Barley breathing we looked at each other and quietly discussed a plan. Looking at the injured man we told him to stay strong because we had maybe 100 yards to reach a little more safety. Taking in deep slow breaths he nodded his head to let us know he understood. The non-injured man and I layed side by side on our bellies slowing boosting the injured man on our backs. Being as quiet as possible we crawled back. I was nervous, if we went into a wrong spot they might notice use so we make sure not to move fast. I also didn't want to creep up on a landmine. We had to carry him through bushes and through barbed wire. This led to us being scratched which started to bleed. t felt as if my arms were going to come off. Sometimes I would come eye to eye with a dead solider and it was frightening. After awhile we realized the men that fired at us were far behind us so we stopped to check on the injured man. His body was limp and as cold as ice. "He's gone," I say in remorseful
