‘An American tale: Fievel goes west’ is about a mouse named fievel and his family who are chased out of their homes. On the run they fall down a sewer where a ‘mouse’is talking about why everyone should move west. He promises sunshine, peace with cats, and new homes. So he and his family get on the train, but when fievel goes exploring he discovers the truth. The cats are sending them all into a trap, but before he can get away he is cause and thrown off the train. Now he must find his way back to his family and save them.

The cats kicking the mice out of their homes, is just like us forcing the native Americans out of theirs. It is populism because the cats thought the could over throw them because they were smaller than them so, they saw them self’s as superior. They tricked them to move by promising a better life, then used

Like the mice came to America because they heard there were streets of cheese and that it was a better place (different movie thought but still ties in). Then they got here and are chased out of their homes to be moved for the benefit of someone else. Although In history its flip flopped, we came here from another country and kicked other out. Like the mice thought they kept being kicked from place to place because others wanted their land.

The mice were also treated like slaves, and even though slavery was over in the westward expansion people still viewed African Americans that way. It was still relevant because in the movie they had to fight for their own freedom without much help. They did earn it though and showed the cats that they aren’t superior.

I think that this was a great movie for this project because of the similarities it had. It really did tie into that time period with them being kicked from home, promised new lives, and over coming slavery. Not to mention the separation of the mouse family because I know a lot of families were split over slavery and
